What we collect
- Reading the site: nothing that identifies you. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and the page requested) for security and troubleshooting.
- Newsletter: your email address, whether you've confirmed it, and when you signed up or unsubscribed.
- Ask the news: the question you type. To limit how many questions one visitor can ask, we store a scrambled (one-way hashed) version of your IP address with a timestamp, and delete these records after 7 days. We don't link questions to your identity.
- Advertisers: your name, business name, email address, the ad you upload, its link and dates, and the payment amount. Card details go directly to Stripe; we never see or store them.
- Ad clicks: we count how many times each ad is clicked. We don't record who clicked.
- Your theme choice: if you switch between white and dark, your browser remembers it in local storage on your device. It isn't sent to us.
Cookies
Readers don't get any cookies from us. The only cookie we set is a sign-in cookie for the site's administrators. Embedded YouTube videos load from YouTube's privacy-enhanced domain (youtube-nocookie.com), but YouTube may set its own cookies once you play a video.
How we use it
- To run the site, answer questions in Ask the news, and keep it secure and working.
- To send the newsletter you asked for, and only that.
- To process ad bookings, review ads, run them on the dates booked, and issue refunds.
We don't sell or rent personal information, and we don't use it for targeted advertising.
Services we rely on
These companies process data on our behalf, only to provide their service to us:
- Vercel (hosting) and Supabase (database and file storage).
- Anthropic (the AI that writes story summaries and answers questions in Ask the news; your question is sent to it).
- Stripe (ad payments and refunds).
- Resend (sending newsletter and confirmation emails).
Story photos may load directly from the news outlet that published them or from Pexels, and videos from YouTube. Those services receive the usual technical information any website receives when your browser loads a file, such as your IP address.
AI-written summaries
Stories on AI News Clips are summaries written by AI from reporting published by the outlets we name and link to. Ask the news answers are also generated by AI from those summaries. See our Terms of Use for more.
How long we keep it
- Newsletter: until you unsubscribe, then we keep only a record that you unsubscribed, so you aren't emailed again.
- Ask the news rate-limit records: 7 days.
- Advertiser and payment records: as long as needed for accounting and tax purposes.
Your choices and rights
- Every newsletter email has a one-click unsubscribe link.
- You can ask us what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it by emailing ads@ainewsclips.com. Depending on where you live (for example California or the EU), you may have additional rights, and we'll honor them.
Children
The site is for a general adult audience and isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect their information.
Security
We use encrypted connections, limit who can access data, and keep payment details with Stripe. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.
Changes and contact
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above. Questions: ads@ainewsclips.com.
