Microsoft releases Decision-1, a fast scoring model built on Qwen technology

Microsoft has unveiled Microsoft-Decision-1, a new model designed to score decisions quickly, built on top of Qwen3.5-9B. The company indicated it will soon rebase the model on alternatives from other providers, including MAI and OpenAI.

Decision models represent an emerging category distinct from large language models. Unlike LLMs, which focus on text generation, decision models are purpose-built to evaluate and score choices, addressing a different need in AI applications.
